Kersten Fuith of PoFu, a local potter in our area, has donated some wonderful garden items for our auction next week! A big congrats to Kersten as she was a featured seller on etsy this week!

Last night I had the privilege of meeting Pam of Art of Being Pamela as I picked-up her kind donations for our auction. What a sweet, sweet lady that I am so thankful found us on a craigslist post for donors. Her work is beautiful and her energy was infectious! I left her house feeling so great about all of our kind donors and their efforts to help us fight the fight against cystic fibrosis in my sister's memory. This year, kids have started decorating bird houses in honor of our favorite ROBYN! Juliana and Olivia have gotten a head start and made some gorgeous creations! Way to go girls!!

Our first submissions for Kids for the Cure of Cystic Fibrosis (KCCF) comes from Emily and Alex.

The girls painted piggy banks from Piggy Banks USA (Alex's grandma is the owner).

Notice the banks with the roses...65 Roses is how many children pronounce cystic fibrosis. Great detail ladies!

We are proud to add Piggy Banks USA to our list of donors for 2011. Not only did they donate the banks for this project, they also are donating gift certificates for auction on the big day. Yahoo!

A friend and fellow ACCF committee member's son has started Cookies for a Cure to raise funds towards finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Kudos go out to this grade schooler for his interest and dedication to help this cause. We salute Dru and support him in his mission to raise $700 by selling cookies at all Michigan home football games (on Main at Pauline).

If you aren't in our area, but would still like to support the cause, please visit Dru's fundraising site.

A great article is currently available with more information on Dru's mission. In addition to his cookie stand, Dru is one of our beloved Kids for the Cure artists at our annual art auction.

Our event on June 19 was a huge success!! We had a wonderful crowd of supporters, fantastic guest speakers, and incredible auction items all in an effort to raise money for a cure of cystic fibrosis.

A final number will come soon, but at a quick glance we raised over $6,000!!!

We are thrilled to have Emily Schaller as one of our guest speakers for this year's event!

Emily Schaller

Emily is the founder of the Rock CF Foundation which helps raise funds and awareness for people living with cystic fibrosis. "Just Let Me Breathe" is the organization's annual rock concert benefit featuring artists from the Detroit music scene.

Her excitement about bringing awareness to those living with cystic fibrosis is admirable. She uses the arts, fitness, fashion, and music to help inform the public of this important cause and her personal crusade.

At the event, Emily will also be acting as live auctioneer for an art piece created by fellow CF'er Somer Love. This is super special as Robyn was an avid follower of Somer's blog.

Like all of us at Art for the Cure of Cystic Fibrosis, Emily wants CF to stand for Cure Found!!

We look forward to sharing Emily and her passion for life on June 19!

A big round of applause to everyone that made the 3rd Annual Art for the Cure of Cystic Fibrosis a HUGE success! Below you will see a rough estimate of what we raised at last Saturday's event, but first some thanks...

Conor O'Neill's - thank you to hosting us since our inaugural event! We look forward to it every year...your staff is excellent and the atmosphere always makes for a festive evening. A big thank you for your generosity this year - INCREDIBLE!

The Nathan Experience - thank you for jumping in last-minute to provide musical entertainment during our auction! We were all very impressed with your professionalism and talent - especially as high school students! We will definitely keep you in mind next year as well!

Auction Donors - we had over 100 auction items donated by local artists and independent businesses in Michigan. These businesses also include local printers who made certain we had our invites, flyers, and programs donated. THANK YOU!

Many of our art donors included children who participated in our successful "Kids for the Cure" auction. We are very proud of them all for getting involved and supporting our cause at such a young age!

Kyle- thank you for playing music to get us all dancing. As always, you know what tunes we love and it was so special to have you be part of this event in Robyn's honor. She was smiling down on you!!

Andrew - we were thrilled to have you get us laughing even though a bit later than originally planned - thank you for being patient throughout the evening!! Your compliments and put-downs were a hit!!! Excited to have you want to be part of it all again next year...

Dr. Simon - thank you again for your kind words at the event. Robyn was so excited that you accepted her invitation after last years event to be involved this year. We are thankful that you could join us to update our guests on the importance of their support to help continue research towards a cure. We look forward to your involvement again next year...

Ryan - You did such a wonderful job of addressing our group with your personal story of living with cystic fibrosis. We have heard from many that your presentation was powerful and prompted them to dig deep into their pockets to help the cause. It was an honor to include you in our event. Our committee is all decked out in our "Robyn" necklaces. You want one too, right? If so, please drop us a line and let us know. Orders processed prior to our event on 5/30/09 are $15 per necklace.

The necklaces were made possible by committee members Samantha and Michelle in loving memory of Robyn. Michelle painted the beautiful robin while Samantha coordinated the creation of of the necklaces with local artist Ann Shepard from "Such Pretty Colors." For every necklace sold, Ann will donate $10 to our cause. VERY impressive!

In addition to email orders, necklaces will be available for sale at our event on Saturday, May 30 at Conor O'Neill's. Details on how to purchase the necklace after our event will be available shortly.

Hello,

It is with a broken heart that I inform all of our Art for the Cure of Cystic Fibrosis supporters that my beloved sister, Robyn, lost her battle with CF on November 29.

We are all deeply saddened at this tragic loss, but will continue on with our mission to help find a cure...that's what Robyn would have wanted. She was so proud of this event and honored that her friends and family would come together on her behalf. We will continue the tradition in her memory.

While the final numbers are not in for the event this past weekend, we wanted to take a moment to thank EVERYONE who helped to make this year's 2nd Annual Art for the Cure of CF a success....

Conor O'Neill's...thank you AGAIN this year for the kind donation of the Celtic Room for our event and for donating 15% of all food sales when guests presented their "official" flyer. The waitstaff had their hands full on Saturday and handled it with grace and even looked like they were enjoying themselves!!

Toppermost...thank you for being our entertainment two years-in-a-row! Guests kept asking where we found you and truly enjoyed your music. I'm certain you have some new fans (in addition to all of us!).

Allegra Print & Imaging...a HUGE thank you for the kind donation of all printing costs and production for our invitations, flyers, and programs for the evening. They looked beautiful!!

Local Donors...well, without your kind donations Art for the Cure wouldn't exist! A big thank you to our local artists and businesses for donations which included many forms of media, gift certificates, etc. We especially thank you for your donations when the economy isn't necessarily in your favor. Your support for our cause in helping to find a cure for cystic fibrosis is GREATLY appreciated!!

Guests...the event was special because of all the support (financially and emotionally) that you provided. We are blessed to have had wonderful, fun, individuals on hand to help raise money for a cause close to our hearts. We are very excited by the donations that have come to us for the silent auction! There are art pieces and other donations to fit everyone's taste!

The 2nd Annual Art for the Cure of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2008 in the Celtic Room at Conor O'Neill's from 7 p.m. until close.

The event will include music, hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, door prizes, and a silent auction (7:00 - 8:30 p.m.) featuring items from local Ann Arbor artists, merchants, and restaurants.

Tickets are $20 per person or $35 per couple. Spaces are limited. Contact us to purchase your ticket(s) prior to the event.
