I am always interested in organizations that ask artists to give their work away -those least able to afford it. Do they ask the plumber to donate his time, or their accountant or lawyer? I have done it myself and do donate to charities, but why not ask the artist to donate while giving a modest reserve price for the auctioned art - still a good deal for the charity. Had to say it, especially after I was asked to give a $20,000 sculpture to a senior citizens center. That's more than I make in most years.
